The Art of Arriving: Why I’m Skipping Resolutions This Year
You Are Already Here: Shifting from Achievement to Awareness
Hello, January 2026.
We’ve reached that familiar point in the calendar where the world feels loud. My inbox and social feeds are overflowing with "fresh starts," "new beginnings," and the relentless pressure of New Year’s resolutions. There is a collective obsession with making this the "best year yet" or finally engineering a "better version" of ourselves.
To be honest? I’m not a fan of that narrative.
The problem with the "New Year, New Me" mindset is that it implies that who we were yesterday wasn't enough. It suggests that our lives are projects to be optimized rather than experiences to be lived.
Why I’m Choosing Presence Over Progress
I believe that everything that has come before today—every hard-won victory, every quiet failure, and every mundane Tuesday—has served as the architecture for who we are in this exact moment. When we focus solely on a "fresh start," we risk discarding the wisdom we gathered in the seasons before.
Furthermore, when we spend January anticipating the future, we aren't actually living in 2026 yet; we are living in a mental projection of it. To obsess over the horizon is to miss the ground beneath our feet.
This year, I am practicing the Art of Arriving. Arriving means being fully present in the room you are currently in. It means trusting that you are exactly where you need to be to begin the next phase of your journey.
A Year of Practice: The AWARE Framework
In this community, 2026 won’t be about a sprint toward a finish line. It will be a year of practice. We are moving away from the "hustle" and toward Embodied Self-Awareness.
To guide us, we are using the AWARE framework. This isn't a checklist for self-improvement; it’s a vehicle for transforming how we live and lead from the inside out. Throughout January, we will be exploring these five pillars:
Authenticity: Stripping away the "shoulds" to find the courage to be seen as we are.
Wellbeing: Moving past self-care as a luxury and treating our physical and emotional health as a foundation.
Alignment: Ensuring our daily energy matches our deepest values.
Resilience: Building the capacity to move through challenge, rather than just bouncing back from it.
Empowerment: Claiming our agency to create meaningful change in our lives and communities.
Moving Forward, Together
I invite you to take a breath and let go of the pressure to be "new." You don’t need to be new; you just need to be here.
As we navigate January, I’ll be sharing tools and reflections to help us all become more AWARE. We aren't just starting a year; we are cultivating a presence that will last long after the January decorations come down.
Reflect with me: If you stopped trying to "fix" yourself this month, what would you have more energy for?
I’m so glad you’ve arrived. Let’s begin.
Cultivate Your Presence: Join the AWARE Family
